Natural Convenience Store

I just visited Organic To Go in Bellevue, WA. It is a convenience store with natural ingredients and a fairly broad selection of breakfast, snack, and lunch items. It reminds me of Pret a Manger, but not as clean a concept and the food doesn’t appear as fresh. It does offer better-for-you food with great, convenient locations and delivery. Here are some other reviews of the Seattle area locations.

The company has 11 locations - 4 in the Seattle area and 7 in Southern California. They seem to be growing quite a bit, as they have recently gone public. This is a curious financing move for a restaurant chain started just 3 years ago. A friend in the restaurant public equity world says “I think public equity financing for a company that small is madness, given the extreme burden of Sarbanes-Oxley. I can’t imagine that the overhead required for a public company could be justified in an organization that small.”

Sounds like O to Go is now focusing a lot more on catering. Might be the right choice for this company.
